Dartford, Gravesham & Swanley MIND works with people with mental health problems living in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley area of North West Kent to effect personal and social change.

OUR SPECIFIC AIMS are to

  • Reduce isolation and distress

  • Increase self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Develop skills for self-help and mutual support

  • Increase awareness and understanding of mental health

  • Influence the way mental health services are planned and delivered

To achieve these aims we will carry out the following OBJECTIVES:

  • Campaigning in response to local and national concerns

  • Providing mental health education

  • Providing support through direct services including supported housing, drop-in centres, befriending, advice, and information

  • Developing our work in response to changing needs.

  • Do you feel anxious, depressed, stressed at work or in general, unable to cope and feel that people don't understand?
     

After contacting us many people have been amazed that they are not alone in their troubles and there is help and support out there, if you want it!

We provide many services and there will be one that will suit you, whether it be:

A Drop-In for people who feel lonely and isolated and wish to meet others who understand how they are feeling.

The Moving on Scheme for those not ready to join a social group, but are feeling isolated and lonely and would like to meet someone on a one-to-one basis.

The Open Doors Project -

Carer's Support Project - Information and support for carer's of people with a mental health problem.

Housing - Supported Housing in self contained flats in your area, for people suffering mental ill health.

Groupwork- Facilitated by a professional on the following: Post Natal Depression, Depression, Living Skills, Hearing Voices, Carers of people with a mental health problem, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and various other groups which may benefit you.

Garden Project - Learn more about this very therapeutic hobby at our garden in Dartford.

Volunteering Opportunities - We also need special people who are willing to help run our services. If you are that person and you have some spare time, why not call us to find out how you can become involved. Training given and expenses paid.

Education - We provide placements for new police recruits, trainee mental health nurses, counsellors and psychologists.
